Volunteer with Us
Issaquah Community Services (ICS) is a nonprofit organization of about 25 volunteers who are passionate about helping their neighbors. We are locally funded by a combination of grants and donations which are used to provide emergency financial aid to residents of the Issaquah School District who may be in danger of eviction or utility shut off. Volunteers distribute funds directly to the landlords and utility companies of those in need.
We welcome volunteers from all walks of life who want to give to their community and have basic computer and communication skills. We also have a need for a variety of other skills and experience, including fundraising, grant writing, social media, website and basic programming.
Most volunteers process requests for clients who are seeking assistance. They normally work in the office 2-3 mornings or evenings per month. Scheduling is very flexible. The office is located at 180 E Sunset, next to the fire station. Office hours are from 9-11 am Monday thru Friday and 6:30-7:30 pm on Monday evenings.
Due to the pandemic, volunteers currently have the option of working remotely from home or in the office. Training is administered via Zoom meetings as well as one-on-one in the office (if desired). We follow CDC COVID-19 guidelines including safe distancing and wear masks for those who opt to work with a partner in the office.
For volunteers helping with other organizational needs such as technical support, social media or fundraising, the hours are not specific and very flexible.
